  LIGHTING CONTROL

For large square footage spaces, lighting control is no longer a desire, but a requirement. In a traditional lighting system, each load is connected via a "switch leg". This enables the occupant to turn that 'load' (light, or series of lights) on and off, and maybe even dim them (if a dimmer switch is used). This works fine in a small space with few lighting loads.

This all seems to fall apart when there are many (even hundreds) of specific loads to control. This means that each load would need to be controlled individually. This quickly becomes a daunting and cumbersome task.

As a Realtor™, I remember having to walk around these huge homes to turn on all the lights in the house before each showing (often confused as to what the vast plethora of switches actually did, and often unable to find the ones I needed). It would take up to 15 minutes to turn them all on and get everything set right, only to have to run around to turn them all off again after the showing.

I thought, "wouldn't it be nice if they just had one button that would say 'ENTERTAIN' and all the lights would magically come on the way I wanted them?" And, even better, wouldn't it be great if I could hit one button that said "AWAY", and they would all magically go off!"

Well, truth of the matter is, most of my clients and the homeowners I polled all wished they had the same control as well. Little did they know, that level of control does actually exist. It is an art known simply as LIGHTING CONTROL.

The secondary benefit of a lighting control system is reduced "wall clutter" from 2, 3, 4 and 5-gang light switches all over the home. We can typically replace these with a single-gang, elegant, decora style programmable switch. These switches can be custom programmed to enable multiple scenes on one switch, and blend seamlessly into the interior décor of any home.

Colorado vNet’s Touchpad:  A stroke of genious!

The revolutionary part about Colorado vNet’s Touchpad is that there is only one single product SKU.  With just about any other lighting control system, you have to select if you want a 1,2, 3, or 5 button switch in each location ahead of time.  With vNet, you don’t have to worry about that!

Colorado vNet's Touchpad can be configured to be 1, 2, 3, 4 and up to 6 buttons through programming, and can be easily changed in the future to accommodate more scenes.

Why is it called a Touchpad, and not a switch?

Because the Touchpad utilizes Colorado vNet’s proprietary capacitive touch technology, much like scroll wheel on your iPod.  Therefore it is a TOUCH PAD.  There are no moving parts to wear out or break.

Some larger controls are also available for main entryways or for commercial applications.
